Matthew Hamlin

Senior Associate

Matthew has been a valued member of the Dormer Stanhope team for over six years. He was admitted as a solicitor in 2020 and holds a Bachelor of Laws from Western Sydney University, where he graduated in the top 10% of his cohort and was placed on the Dean's Merit List. 


Matthew is an experienced litigator who acts for both individuals and private companies across a broad range of matters. His practice encompasses complex commercial disputes, breaches of directors' duties, shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, fraud and negligence. He also advises individual clients on both non-contentious and contentious estate and succession law matters, including family provision claims of all degrees of complexity, will rectification proceedings and testamentary capacity proceedings in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Matthew has a particular interest in insolvency and commercial disputes.


Matthew is known for his measured, practical approach to client relationships. He takes the time to understand each client's circumstances and is committed to providing clear, considered advice, particularly in circumstances that can be stressful. Clients consistently value his accessibility and genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcome on their behalf.
